- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until fragrant.
Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Allow mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes.
In a large baking dish, layer half of the chopped cabbage, followed by half of the beef mixture. Repeat the layers.
If using, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the final layer.
Cover with foil and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then remove foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
